Barn Conversion Creates Blank Canvas

When Woodchester Cabinet Makers usually design a kitchen they take time to really understand exactly what the customer’s dream kitchen needs to be. So it was a whole new challenge when the team was asked by a local property developer to imagine the ideal kitchen and utility room for future buyers.

“We wanted to create a kitchen that potential owners could imagine themselves in” explains Tim “So we focused on neutral colours and clean lines that complimented the original wood and made the most of the space.” Work surfaces were hand-made from 30mm, Danish oiled Iroko which blended perfectly with the property’s beams and lintels. To give the conversion a really rustic feel WCM hand-painted all cabinetry in 'Lime White' by Farrow & Ball and used traditional style Travertine flagstones by Precious Stone for the flooring. To optimise storage a free-standing larder cabinet with integral spice racks was also created whilst matching mock cabinetry was built to disguise the boiler and switches. Finishing touches include a cream Rayburn range, farmhouse sink by Villeroy & Boch, hammered pewter handles by Dartington and Ionian taps by Perrin & Rowe. The style of the kitchen flows through to the utility room which features an inset sink and taps by Franke.
